Geological Survey of India is the premier organization in the country responsible for generating base data pertaining to earth and its natural resources and is the   key advisor to the Govt. of India on matters related to earth science.  This objective has been fulfilled admirably, ever since its inception in 1851. GSI is rightly proud of the large number of mineral deposits discovered, explored and mined all over the country, which form the backbone of our industry. The Organisation has also excelled in specialized fields like Airborne Surveys, Geophysics, Marine Geology, Geochemistry, Environmental studies and Engineering Geology etc., besides academic achievements in Palaeontology, Geochronology and a host of other disciplines.

The Geological Survey of India Scientific Officers’ Association (GSISOA)  embodies the largest single group of earth scientists in our country and has been serving the interest of geo-scientific community  ever since its formation in early seventies. The Department is presently going through a structural revamp to keep abreast with the changing global scenario in earth science.  At this juncture we have a major role in helping the organizational restructuring, inspiring the earth scientists and safeguarding their interests. This SITE is also designed to provide an interactive platform among earth scientists across the world.
